BACKGROUND

My own goal as a single mom of three boys, was always to be able to work flexible hours from my home. (or anywhere in the world.) I started a side hustle in 2016 with goal to be working in my business full time from home within 3 years. Two years later I was able to able to quit my job. I know you would like to hear that it was easy. It wasn’t! I had in fact tried a few ideas prior to this business which did not really work out, mostly due to financial constraints, but often due to lack of knowledge or personal circumstances/timing.

For example; In 2006 I had started an online service business that was in rather good demand. It did okay, because it was in demand, but my lack of sales skills was a limiting factor to its growth. I was good at the technical stuff, but lacked sales knowledge as well as the budget to employ sales staff. When my two sons where 1 and 3 years old, and just as we had decided to move to a different country, we found out we were expecting our third son. I decided to sell the business to a friend, as it was very much a local business that would be tough to run from a different country and time zone, while managing a new home and three young boys. I knew I would launch launch something new, once we were settled.

A few years later I became a single mom and sole provider of my three kids. I knew that the safety of a full time salary was important. I decided that if I was going to work for a salary it was going to be in a job that I could learn from and improve the areas I was not proficient in. I found a sales job and did every course they offered to improve my knowledge and skills for business.

Now you may be asking how did a single mom of three young kids work a full day, raise kids full time and study? It was tough! I had a goal I wanted to achieve and I did what it took to achieve that, even if it meant working late nights, weekends and making financial sacrifices to help finance my business.

So while it took two years for my side hustle to turn into a full time profitable business, I need to point out that saying that it took two years, would be ignoring an important detail. Everything I had learned before paved the way to my success. All the “failed attempts” were actually valuable learning opportunities that taught me what to avoid in the future. Every skill I learned I was able to harness to propel my business forward and every previous customer became my network. So, when in 2016, while working for the largest Media Marketing company in the country, managing over 200 clients portfolios and a 7 figure advertising budget, I realized most of my clients had the same issues, I approached our regional manager with a suggestion to solve these issues. When she told me not viable for them, I decided to start a side hustle to solve the problem.

I put digital products together that really worked for businesses. On top of that I delivered excellent customer service. I only had to find 7 clients! Word of mouth turned those 7 into a continuously growing number of clients and is what allowed me to quit my job after just two years.

Word of mouth not only grew my business, it turned me into a business coach. I had been a coach prior to starting my business. The year I left school I was asked to go back and coach the girls 1st team basketball. I had never thought of myself as a coach or teacher, but that year I found out that I was a natural teacher. Both my mom and my son have said that I come alive when I am teaching. I have always felt this overwhelming energy when coaching, but to know that it is visible made me realise it is a calling.

Once I had quit my day job, friends started asking what I was doing. So when my friend asked me to teach her to do the same, I agreed without hesitation. Word of Mouth worked its magic and the the ball kept rolling after that. In the first year I trained eight ladies and one young gentleman to start their own website design agencies, one lady is now a digital marketer and another a freelance debt and accounts admin person. On top of that I became somewhat of a business coach to my clients. Over the years that I have been in this business, I have supported countless start up businesses. Its a great feeling to help a business grow, but that is not my primary motivation.

When I first became a single mom, I had to start right at the very bottom in a job I had very little experience in. The salary barely covered food, let alone anything else, but I knew it was a means to an end. It was a very tough time and I never mentioned this to anyone, yet people just knew and help would just arrive anonymously. Clothing, food, vouchers, toys for the kids, etc. It was a absolute lifesaver and I knew that I would pay that kindness forward, because without that kindness, I might not have had the strength to keep on believing in myself and believing that things would get better.

So when I realised that just a few years later, I had gained so much knowledge and experience working with business in just about every category, from small family businesses to large companies. I new I could do something to help others. I knew I needed to build a platform that could leverage my knowledge and help anyone who wants to start a business to be successful! The goal with the 369-Media Business Opportunity, is to give everyone a legitimate way to build a business that they can run from anywhere at any time without having to buy products.

Final word: When I first launched the idea of 369 Media it was all sponsored and free. I wanted to help people who needed help the most, so I sponsored everything. I gave them free website hosting and support. What I found is that not everyone will value something they get for free. Giving a totally free start to someone makes it easy for anyone to take the opportunity, but it also attracts those who want an easy ride. I found most people who jumped at the free offer, did not last when it came down to actually putting in the work. Because of this I developed a “barrier to entry” You need to pay for your website hosting, maintenance and support. That way you will not only value it, but also really think twice about if you really do want to build something amazing and long term or just looking for a get rich quick scheme.

This is not a get rich quick scheme. The goal is to help you learn the skills to build your business and support you along the journey. The “Barrier to Entry” is for vital tools that will need to succeed and its less than a daily cup of coffee or one family trip to McDonalds. If you cannot find the money for that then you are not in a position to start a business. Its not a nice thing to have to say, but you need the right foundation to build a successful business on.

Last final word: Thank you for reading all the way to the end. I could have done this in a quick video, but I feel that anyone reading this far down without any visual elements has the desire and grit to do what it takes and not give up easily. I hope you will start on this journey!
